The amazing team at Wargame Design Studio, creators of some of the best World War 2 games of all time continue to make Jonh Tiller proud with their fantastic work on every series they inherited. Last Friday they just launched Spring Awakening ’45, the latest entry to the Panzer Campaign series.
Spring Awakening ’45 is shaped by the mind of César “Indragnir” Moreno, a prolific modder of the Wargamer Design Studio Panzer Campaign series: “When I started designing mods (all those years ago), I couldn’t even think that I would ever create a full game. It’s been a long road. But every step of the way has led me to Spring Awakening. This game has been a learning experience for me as I honed a new set of design skills for smaller scenarios, as my long modding career was geared towards Campaign games for Head-to-Head play because it was my favourite size and gameplay (something you have noticed for sure if you have been following my list of mods: they’re all for the main Campaigns for HTH play). Obviously, creating small and medium scenarios versus AI and Head-to-Head play needed that new skill set as a designer and, to my pleasant surprise, I enjoyed making smaller scenarios. It was also nice to see player reports of how much fun the versus AI play scenarios were, a game mode which I don’t usually include in my mods. Watching this game develop and evolve was equally enjoyable and I finished this process quite happy. I hope this game provides you with endless hours of fun!“
WDS Spring Awakening ’45 will zoom into the last German offensive of the war. Operation Spring Offensive’s main goals were the defence of the Hungarian and Vienna oil regions and the defence of the Upper Silesian industrial region. In this latest Wargame Design Studio title you’ll be able to play as both the Germans and the Soviets.
The game features some 85 scenarios, with the longest scenario lasting a total of 98 turns. There’s a master map comprised of more than 100,000 hexes that extend from the Danube River into Yugoslavia. The game’s scale is 1 hex equals 1km, and every turn equals 2 hours of real-time. The unit scale is battalion/company.
Wargame Desing Studio Spring Awakening ’45 will set you back $39.95 or your regional equivalent. WDS is also running their weekly deal on a game, and until the 7th of April, you can buy the Mexican-American War for 25% less, or $29.99.
